Why need to Backup (Import/Export) data
Backing up your Shopify data is crucial for several reasons:
- Protecting Your Data: Your Shopify store contains vital customer and business data, including financial records and customer orders. Data loss can occur due to hardware failures, human errors, or cyberattacks. A backup ensures that you can recover your data in such events.
- Ensuring Business Continuity: Disasters can strike unexpectedly, and downtime can be costly. A backup allows you to restore your store quickly, minimizing downtime and maintaining seamless business operations.
- Simplifying Store Migration: If you decide to move your store to a new platform, having a backup simplifies the process, allowing you to restore your store on the new platform without manually transferring data.
In essence, regular backups help safeguard against data loss, ensure ongoing business operations, and facilitate easier transitions between platforms. It’s a proactive measure to protect your business’s integrity and continuity.

How to use Maxifiy Shopify app
- Creating a New Import:
- To start, navigate to the Matrixify app within your Shopify store.
- On the home page, you’ll find the Import section.
- You can either drag and drop the file you want to import or click the “Add file” button to upload it from your computer.
- Matrixify supports various import formats, including:
- Matrixify: Excel
- Matrixify: CSV (zipped or not zipped)
- Shopify: CSV (zipped or not zipped)
- Matrixify: Google Sheets (from a shared public link)
- Other custom file formats developed as additional services for merchants.
- The app will automatically detect the CSV file encoding and convert it to UTF-8 as needed for Shopify.
- Column Headers and Data Matching:
- Ensure that the column headers in your import file match the Matrixify template column headers.
- Column order doesn’t matter, and you can have additional columns in your file.
- If a column header isn’t recognized, the app will ignore it.
- File Size and Limitations:
- Manual uploads from your computer are limited to 5 GB. For larger files, upload them to a file hosting service and import from a URL.
- The maximum file size for an import job from a URL is 10 GB (if using multiple CSV files in a ZIP, the sum of all CSV files inside the ZIP cannot exceed 30 GB).
- Excel files can hold up to 1 million rows, but for larger data, use the “Matrixify: CSV” format.
- Be aware of Shopify’s limitations on data size and import.
- Managing Metafields and Custom Data:
- Matrixify allows you to import and export Shopify metafields in bulk.
- You can also create custom data fields during import.
- Exporting Data:
- Matrixify supports exporting data as well.
- You can export Shopify URL redirects, metaobject entries, product data, and more.
- Fields marked as “Export Only” cannot be imported into Shopify but can be exported using Matrixify.
- Additional Features:
Remember to test and analyze the impact of the data you’re importing. Matrixify simplifies data management, making it easier to handle large-scale operations within your Shopify store.
